6 Scriptures the Enemy Fears — Speak Them to Break Poverty & Release Wealth

The battle against lack, anxiety, and the sense of “never having enough” was decisively won on the cross 2,000 years ago. However, the enemy actively tries to veil this truth, seeking to keep believers bound in a cycle of debt and dependency. True freedom and effectiveness in the Kingdom of God require discovering and declaring specific covenant rights and kingdom principles.

This guide explores four powerful, biblical strategies the adversary fears most, revealing God’s complete and holistic desire for your prosperity, health, and success.

1. The Covenant Key: Declare Yourself the Head and Not the Tail (Deuteronomy 28)

The enemy fears the believer who grasps their covenant right to be the head and not the tail, recognizing that this revelation shatters the grip of poverty.

Embrace Your Position of Abundance

The Book of Deuteronomy outlines incredible blessings that “chase down and overtake” those who walk in obedience. Moses spoke a “glorious powerful verse” that the enemy has tried to hide for generations.

This truth establishes your position and promise:

  • Divine Provision: “The Lord will open unto thee his good treasure”. This is not the world’s fluctuating treasure, but the “treasury of heaven where moth and rust do not corrupt”. This good treasure is filled with every “good and perfect gift that comes down from the father of lights”.
  • Divine Timing and Favor: God promises to “give the rain unto thy land in his season”. This signifies divine timing and heavenly influence on your earthly endeavors, including sending the right idea, opportunity, and favor with the right person.
  • Supernatural Increase: God promises to “bless all the work of thine hand”. He puts His supernatural increase upon your natural effort, blessing your job, skill, or business. The enemy lies, whispering you are destined to struggle and that your work is cursed, but God declares it blessed.
  • Authority and Freedom: The culmination of this promise is the part that “strikes terror into the heart of hell”. God says: “Thou shalt lend unto many nations and thou shalt not borrow. And the Lord shall make thee the head and not the tail and thou shalt be above only and thou shalt not be beneath”.

When you are the “tail,” you are dependent on the world’s systems and ineffective for the Kingdom. God has ordained you to be the head, which leads, directs, and has vision and authority. To be the head in this covenant context means having “supernatural abundance” so you are a lender, not a borrower. This freedom allows you to finance God’s agenda on the earth.

Proclaim Your Covenant Right

Your primary response must be to open your mouth and agree with God. The devil “can’t stand to hear you say it”. You must declare, regardless of circumstances: “I declare that I am the head and not the tail. God is opening his good treasury to me and I am blessed to be a lender not a borrower. The cycle of lack is broken now in Jesus’ name”. This is commanding your circumstances to agree with the Word of God, causing a spiritual shift in the atmosphere.

2. The Protection Key: Tithe Faithfully and Rebuke the Devourer (Malachi 3)

If the enemy cannot convince you that you are meant to be the tail, he will try to devour your blessing before it reaches your hand through unexpected repairs, sudden illnesses, or price increases. God has provided a “powerful undeniable key” that both unlocks the windows of heaven and rebukes the devourer: the tithe.

The Principle of Tithes and Offerings

The tithe—the first tenth—is a “holy portion” that is not ours to withhold; it is already God’s. To withhold the tithe is to “rob the almighty God”, and the consequence is that “the windows of heaven are shut and the devourer is given legal access to our finances”.

God issues a challenge: “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse… and prove me now herewith sayeth the Lord of hosts if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it”.

Dual Supernatural Results

Obedience in tithing is an “act of war” and a declaration that God is first. When this “heavenly lever is pulled,” two mighty supernatural things occur instantly:

  1. Windows of Heaven are Opened: This is a “downpour”—a blessing so vast you cannot contain it. It manifests as “ideas of favor, of divine connections, of supernatural debt cancellation, of opportunities that you did not labor for”.
  2. The Devourer is Rebuked: God says, “I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes”. The devil, who is a “devourer”, sends the “spirit of waste, the spirit of lack, the spirit of sudden loss”. When you are a faithful tither, God becomes your defender, protecting your harvest and securing your blessing.

The enemy lies, saying you cannot afford to tithe, but you “do not give from your blessing; you give for your blessing”. It is a “kingdom principle that releases kingdom power”.

3. The Provision Key: Fix Your Gaze on God’s Glorious Riches (Philippians 4)

When lack seems pressing, the enemy tries to shrink your vision to the limits of your own resources, whispering that God’s promise is not for you. The Apostle Paul, writing from a prison cell—a place of “lack, of confinement, of utter dependency”—shattered this lie.

The Limitless Measuring Stick

Paul’s declaration shifts focus from the need to the infinite supplier: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”.

  • A Divine Guarantee: This promise is a “future certainty,” not a “hope so”.
  • Exposed Lie: The enemy wants you to believe your supply is limited by your bank account or paycheck. But the measuring stick for your provision is “the limitless inexhaustible glorious riches of heaven itself”. God’s riches are “untainted by sorrow, untouched by inflation and undiminished by time”.
  • The Conduit is Christ: This heavenly wealth makes its way to your earthly situation “by Christ Jesus”. Your access is based not on your performance, but on your position in Him; you are an “heir of God and a joint heir with Jesus”.

Proclaim the Supplier’s Wealth

Your first response to need must be proclamation, not panic. You must shift your focus from counting your pennies to counting God’s promises. Declare the truth, not as a beggar, but as a “beloved child who knows their father’s wealth”: “My God supplies all my needs spiritual physical and financial according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. I lack no good thing”.

4. The Wholeness Key: Expect Prosperity and Health (3 John 1:2)

The enemy attempts to “compartmentalize your life,” convincing you that God only cares about your spiritual state while leaving your body sick and your finances in lack. This is a “lie from the pit of hell”.

God’s Highest Wish

The third epistle of John reveals God’s desire for every part of your being. The Apostle John writes: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”.

  • Holistic Desire: God’s “highest priority” and “top of the list desire” is that you may prosper and be in health. Your holistic prosperity is at the “very top of his wish list”.
  • Divine Order: This prosperity is tied to a divine order: “Even as thy soul prospereth”. When your soul (mind, will, emotions) is renewed by the Word and submitted to His will, your health and material prosperity become a powerful testimony to His goodness.
  • A Weapon, Not an Indulgence: God’s prosperity is a “means to a greater end”—the advancement of His kingdom. A “whole, healthy and abundantly provided for” believer is a “dangerous weapon in the hands of God”. A healthy body and financial abundance allow you to fund global evangelism, care for the needy, and “silence the enemies of the gospel”.

The Divine Cycle of Generosity

God makes “all grace abound toward you” so that you, “always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work”. God gives you more than enough, not for self-indulgence, but so you can “invest in eternity”.

  • Seed for Sewing: God supplies “seed to the sewer”. When you are generous, you are not getting poorer; you are planting. God multiplies the seed, giving you an exponential harvest so you can plant again.
  • Break the Spirit of Poverty: Generosity breaks the spirit of poverty, which is rooted in selfishness and fear. Your finances become ministry, and your business becomes a missions field.

Believe God for the complete package. Tend to the prosperity of your soul, and expect that health and prosperity to manifest in your body and bank account. Declare your wholeness by faith: “I prosper in every area of my life even as my soul prospers. My health is whole my mind is sound and my finances are abundant”.
