It says, “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Who is higher? God is higher. Messiah is higher. You need to spend more time with him. If you want to go higher, you got to spend more time this year with him, being with him, learning of him more, knowing him more, going with him more, following him more, imitating him more, loving him more, more in his presence, because that’s going to lead you higher.
Cuz he’s always higher. [Music] The apostles had been through so much with the with Messiah, but then comes the end where the crucifixion comes. They’re crushed and then and then they’re they watch as their as their the hope that of their lives is crushed on the cross, then put in the tomb. It’s all over.
And then he appears to them and then he says, “Wait in Jerusalem until the power on high comes upon you, the ruahesh, the Holy Spirit.” So they wait in Jerusalem and on that day we all know Pentecost day comes upon them as they’re praying and waiting before the Lord like and the mighty rushing wind comes on them and gives them power and they go out in that power and it’s a whole new thing.
They’re no longer just going to be disciples. They’re going to be teachers. They’re going to be making disciples. They’re stepping out into new ground. They’re going to step out into the nations. Things they never had before. They’re will they go out and they’re going to rise to their calling. Now, those are glimpses of key moments in the lives of God’s people that changes their life and leads them higher.
God is calling all of us to go higher, to a greater walk, greater power. How? We’re going to take what I just said, but now we’re going to take the keys from those moments and now what? identify the keys and apply them to your life. Let’s go back to Elisha for a second. Now Elijah, what’s the first thing he had to do to rise to his calling? First thing he had to do was leave everything he knew before.
He’s got to leave his home, leave his family, and go. He was comfortable there and go and follow this man, the prophet Elijah. Now, that is true throughout scripture. Look at how many times God calls his people. And what they have to do first is leave the old. Abraham had to leave where he was earth. Moses had to leave the life he knew.
