“Getting in Sync With Your Jesus Identity” – Episode 2

Many people feel trapped in a perpetual cycle of performance, striving for peace, approval, and divine favor. However, the path to true purpose, freedom, and fulfillment is unlocked by embracing and living through your True Identity in Jesus Christ. This “Jesus identity” remains constant and unchanging, irrespective of behavior, past mistakes, or religious expectations. The powerful, life-changing message of grace focuses on freeing hearts and renewing minds all over the world.

The core struggle for many believers is that they are out of sync with their true identity, thus missing out on the privileges of their sonship. Instead of striving to become righteous, holy, or complete, believers are called to believe they already are.

1. The Foundation of Identity: Alignment, Not Achievement

Your True Identity is the foundational key to unlocking everything God has called you to do, including your purpose.

Identity is Unchanging and Complete

Your identity with Jesus will always stay the same regardless of what you do. While your behavior may contradict this truth, your identity has already been declared by God. Trying to use self-effort to attain these finished works is futile. The truth is:

  • You are righteous because Jesus has finished righteousness. Jesus made you righteous before you did anything right.
  • You are holy because Jesus has made you holy.
  • You are complete in Jesus now.

Religion incorrectly teaches that behavior determines your identity. If you allow your bad behavior to try to tell you that you are a bad person, you are falling victim to allowing your behavior to govern who you are. The Apostle Paul refused to refer to himself as a sinner, even with videotape of him sinning, because his identity is intact.

Alignment is the Core of Christianity

Christianity is fundamentally about getting in alignment with what God has already done. The goal is to align yourself with where God is, not to try to get God to move, as He already moved.

  • Agreement: Getting in sync means living in agreement with who you truly are in Christ. This should be an awareness every single day of your life.
  • Flow: Your thoughts, emotions, and actions should flow out of the truth that you are already made righteous, holy, and complete in Him.
  • Self-Correction: The Holy Spirit is always there to remind you with a divine whisper, “that’s not who you are”. Your Jesus identity should be allowed to filter everything—from your thoughts to your prayer, marriage, and friendships.

The True Work is Right Believing

The key is to shift from performance to right believing. Obedience to the faith is about trusting God and believing right. If you hold on to the identity, “I’m the righteousness of God,” you will eventually do right because you believe right.

2. The Finished Work and the Posture of Rest

The foundation for resting is the realization that Jesus has already done it; it’s already a reality.

Victory is Already Secured

The finished work means you are not working from trouble to victory. You are already in union with Him, and you are already complete in Him. This is symbolized by the fact that you already sit with Christ in heavenly places.

Prayer as Alignment and Celebration

When your true identity is embraced, prayer changes its entire approach. Instead of begging or trying to convince God to move, you come to Him as a son who is already seated with Christ.

  • Prayer is Alignment: Prayer becomes less about trying to get something and more about aligning with what is already true. This means giving thanks for what you already are.
  • Celebrating Rest: The prayer life should be 100% celebration and declaring. True rest is characterized by celebration. You celebrate that you are already healed, have peace, and have victory.
  • The Labor to Rest: The Bible instructs believers to “labor to rest”. This means laboring to rest in all that has already been done, not laboring to get rich or get healed.

Rejecting the “Old Me” Mindset

The old way of praying was asking God for the strength to climb a mountain; the new identity declares, “I done move your mountain and strengthened you”. You must stop acting from the “fake you” and operate from your true identity.
