True Happiness Comes from Within, Not from Others
Many believe that happiness comes from finding the right person. But in reality, happiness is about becoming the right person. Even if you meet the ideal partner, if you’re not in the right place emotionally or spiritually, you may not be able to nurture that relationship. This isn’t to say that being single means you’re not ready—it simply means that personal growth is essential before expecting fulfillment from a relationship.
Being Ready for the Right People in Your Life
Marriage isn’t proof of readiness. If that were the case, many struggling marriages wouldn’t exist. Readiness isn’t about having a spouse—it’s about becoming the person God calls you to be. The right people will come into your life when you focus on developing the right character. While you can’t always control who enters your life, you can control who you are.
The Lesson from a Childhood Memory
Random childhood memories sometimes stick with us for life. One of mine is from the sixth grade when we took the Berkeley County writing test. The prompt was clear: “Describe a valuable, unusual object you found on an adventure with your friends.” Weeks later, the teacher returned with our graded tests and made an unexpected announcement: Everyone had failed.
We were confused, but she explained that while our stories were engaging—filled with adventures across forests, oceans, and even outer space—not one of us had actually described the object. We had all missed the main point.
