The Word of God Is A Light

• You’re watching [music] KCMI TV. Well, praise the Lord. Happy New Year and um believe that this is going to be a a a time of of God doing great things. The other day I actually was I’d been out of the country and I was flying home and I was I was [clears throat] reading my Bible and um you know sometimes there’ll be a verse that I just I mean God will just turn the light on it and you’ll say, “Wow, I’ve not seen that.
• ” and and I was reading this. I was reading and and this verse just jumped off the page to me and I thought I I’m going to do a podcast on this. And uh the verse that that I want to teach from today is out of second Peter uh chapter 1 and verse 19. And I’ll just read it and then we’ll go back into it. We have also a more sure word of prophecy, where unto you do well that you take heed, as until a light that shineth in a dark place until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts.
• Uh boy, they’re just there’s this verse is just packed with so many different thoughts. And so I want to start off with where Peter writes, he said, “We have also a more sure word of prophecy.” Uh he’s not talking about uh a prophetic word that a man gives uh or a prophetic word that we receive maybe from someone else in our life.
• He’s talking about the word of God. He’s talking about this this entire book right here. And he said, “This book is more sure, more powerful, more stable than anything else.” Uh, in fact, one verse talks about says that that the uh Bible is of no private interpretation. I was uh reading a book by John Lenick on uh Joseph and he had uh gave an example of a man who had decided that he sold his Bible.
• He said because he no longer needed the Bible because God was now speaking to him uh personally. First of all, it’s heresy. the the scripture is of no private interpretation. Um God doesn’t give some secret revelation to some man on the earth that he never gives anybody else. Uh in fact prophecy has to really confirm what God has already spoken in the word.
