Hellgate’s Greatest Hits: Truth, Tension, and Grace

  • Hellgate sparked some really big reactions and brought up even bigger questions. [music] So today, James and I want to walk back through the Hellgate conversation and we want to share with you some of our personal favorite moments, some personal insights and the arguments in the debate that hit home most for us.
  • So, if you [music] watched Hellgate and you’re thinking, “Man, this is powerful. I just would like some help processing it,” this episode is for you. Now, before we get started, I want to just thank again our sponsor, Brave Books, for making Hellgate even possible. They’ve been committed to fostering important conversations between parents and children from the very beginning. So, go to bravebooks.
  • com and you will be so glad that you did. Now, James, before we get into your favorite parts, I want to just tell everybody, um, many of you have asked, can you provide a summary for the 2 and 1 half hour conversation? Here it is. I’ve made a summary that is only five pages long. You can read it in 10 minutes.
  • And I’ve made a small group study guide so that you could work through all of the content with your friends, family, or your Bible study group. It’s awesome. Just look for the link in the description for the study guide and the summary of Hellgate. All right. James, so what did you think of Hellgate? >> I thought it was great.
  • Um, yeah, just the conversations that we had outside of the actual episode itself with all the people that were involved and the importance of the conversation along with the humility represented on both sides was super super refreshing because we live in such a cancel culture world, right, where people are just wanting a fight. Yeah.
  • But for Christian men to sit together at a round table with a Bible in the center and be kind in their disagreements to with each other and both accurately depict each other’s sides I thought was a super big win and in general I just think it was an awesome awesome day. >> Me too. And many of you in the comments have been asking for more of these roundt discussions on different topics.
