Hey, welcome to the Kirk Cameron Show. I’m in sunny California avoiding the storm and the cold kind of. You know, storms have a way of stripping life down to the essentials. Heat, food, trust, and unity. Today, [music] I want to talk with you about two ice storms. One is freezing out our cities and the other is dividing our nation.
And if [music] you stay with me to the end of the episode, you’ll find out that the real question is not about weather or politics, but about what is really holding your house together. While my wife and I managed to scoot out of Nashville just before the storm hit, this is no joking matter. This is one of the worst storms that the Tennessee and Mississippi and surrounding areas have had in decades.
There are below zero temperatures in places here in the country from winter storm Fern and we have an ice storm that has turned the whole city with all of its trees into what looks like a chandelier shop. I mean it’s just like glass everywhere and as it melts it it becomes dangerous as well refreezing overnight making ice skating rinks out of the streets and then the icicles can drop and be very dangerous that way as well.
So, there are hundreds of thousands of people who are without power, without heat, without food. They’re running out of propane. They’re running out of kerosene. They’re running out of wood and food and medicine. And first responders are finding the roads to be impassible because of trees and power lines that have come down. It’s really, really serious.
Organizations are putting up warming centers, but they’re not enough. Not enough people can get to them, and more are needed. There’s also arctic air that is predicted to move in with more sub-zero temperatures freezing and paralyzing everything again this weekend. This is real loss of life, not just theoretical suffering.
I don’t know about you, but when natural disasters like this strike, whether it’s a hurricane or it’s a wildfire or an earthquake or it’s an ice storm, it’s natural to ask the question, where is God in all of this? Is this just random air currents? Uh, is this just what happens because of climate change? Or is this the judgment of God? Or is it something else? Well, the Bible gives us lots of evidence about storms and weather.
