Shotgun Exhortations
-
Hey, listen. There’s something that you should know about the Apostle Paul, which you might already know, and it is this, that he is obviously a high intellect. He’s extremely bright, and we know this, of course, from what the Bible says about his life before he came to Christ. But boy, does his intellectual knowledge shine after coming to Christ.
-
But listen, today’s a little bit different. As we study the book of Romans 12:es 9-13, we’re going to be looking at what I’m calling uh the apostle as he peppers the congregation in Rome with wisdom, insights, and exhortations. He’s remarkable. He’s going to be challenging you, and it’s like a machine gun of truth coming your way.
-
He’s going to give us reasons why you and I need to know the truth and to communicate the truth uh with passion. And here’s the reason why. You can be watching for Paul today in his teaching to us uh to call us out to be ready uh to abhore for example what is evil to be diligent words like fervent hope patient steadfast this is the heart of the apostle as he begins to walk us through what it’s like to live a practical Christian life so let’s grab our Bibles as I’m calling this message Shotgun exhortations let’s get into [Music] And so church, today we look at verses

10 and 11. It says, “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love.” So church, write this down, would you? That we are to do the acts of the father. This is how we’re to be. When the Bible here tells us that we are to do what we are now as believers, what is that that we’re to do? Well, number one, we start with the father.
-
Jesus made that clear to us a moment ago that the father loves Jesus. The father loves us. Jesus loves us. Jesus loves the father. And in all of that, there are the acts, there are the actions that we do as believers. Now, when it says be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, why is that important? Because this is the love of the father that the father has for us.
