God Will Carry You Through

I was invited to be on uh a national Christian network many 30 years ago plus I guess something like that and it was the first time that I had ever appeared and I was asked to be a musical guest. I play the saxophone and I for those of you who don’t know and I I went to Dallas, Texas to be on the largest Christian network in the world called TBN and the founders were Paul and Jan and they were the hosts that night and I was extremely nervous about it.
-
This is funny how these things stick with you and never leave you. I was nervous about it. I I there’s so many factors you can’t control. I was playing to a soundtrack, which means that you may be able to hear the music, you may not. You It’s very nerve-wracking to play live on national TV. And back then, Christian TV was a big deal.
-
It was millions of people watching uh that show. And and I was nervous because most of all, I just wanted to glorify the Lord. I really did. But uh on a saxophone, a reed can mess up. A pad can fall out. Uh uh anything can happen. And I just had the nervous jitters. And I said, “Lord, I just need I just need you to speak to me.

I know you open this door. I didn’t ask to be here. I don’t know how I got here.” That night, TD Jake would preach the sermon in the same time on the for the first time he was ever on national TV. It was very strange. and I was the musical guest. I had to do about four songs. So, I opened my Bible just like like one of those I need a word and I don’t have time to search for it. Speak to me.

I was about to walk out of the room, my hotel room to go get in a car and go live to the world. And I opened my Bible and my eyes fell right on Psalms 92 and verse 10 in that hotel room in Dallas, Texas. And the Lord said, “But my horn you have exalted like a wild ox, and I shall be anointed with fresh oil.” And to me, the horn represented my saxophone.
