Running The Race of Life

  •  You’re watching KCMI TV. Well, I’m glad you’re here today and u let’s get on into the word of the Lord. Uh we’re going to take our key verse that we want to talk about today out of the book of Hebrews chapter 12. And uh we’re going to read two verses, verses 1 and two. Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and the
  • finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross despising the shame and is set down at the right hand uh of the throne of God. And so I want to talk about the race of life that you and I are running. And uh in the New Testament uh God uses uh the writers use different vocations uh to describe uh our Christian walk.
  • And you know Jesus created us and he knows how we are set up mentally and our spiritual construction. And so he in one place he likens believers to farmers and you know this if you read the New Testament there’s lots about sewing and planting and uh he’s when he talks about us as farmers he talks about plowing he talks about digging he talks about planting he talks about reaping and so there’s a whole lot of New Testament scripture that that compares our walk with God to agricultural to to farming.
  • Uh in Matthew the 7th chapter and verse 24, he likens us to builders or carpenters. And of course, Jesus came his vocation uh before he entered into his ultimate calling, he was a carpenter. He was raised in a carpenter’s house. And uh in verse 24, chapter 7 in Matthew, he talks about building a house.
