Amazed by God… But Not Living by Faith?

  • Welcome to the Kirk Cameron Show. One of my very favorite things to do in the morning is to set my mind in the right place. I find that the first thought you have in your head and the last thought that occupies your mind before you go to sleep determines the quality of your whole day.
  • And I believe that gratitude is the best thing that could be filling your heart and mind. And so that’s what I want to give you this morning. A chance to have a thousand things to be grateful for. At the top of the list ought to be the fact that the Lord God is your shepherd which means all your needs are taken care of. I want you to be filled with hope and I want you to be filled with courage because for the believer there is no worst case scenario.
  • God is working all things together for your good because you love him. He’s chosen you. He’s saved you. He’s put you on his team and he has destined you for glory and victory. So this morning I want to suggest this thought to you out of my favorite devotional. Uh there is a significant difference between amazement and faith. There is something much more profound about faith that goes far beyond mere amazement.
  • I want to talk about this because sometimes people don’t make enough of a distinction between just being blown away and amazed by something and genuine saving faith. So faith absolutely does engage your brain. I mean there is intellectual agreement that must take place between your mind and the mind of Christ. I’ve got to believe the gospel.
  • But it goes far beyond that. True faith is more than just fireworks going off in my mind because I see the truth. Remember, even the demons see. Even the Pharisees, the wicked leaders of the religious establishment in Jesus’ day were amazed by the things that Jesus said, the things that he did. He raised Lazarus from the grave. He cast out demons.
