And instead of destroying the person you’re trying to wreck, it ends up destroying you. Real Christians always rise above it. What made you pick this one? Because I think it’s a really important topic and I’ve had gossip happen about me in the past. I know that you have and I think a lot of people have. And I think that gossip is a topic that is not discussed all that much or seen as all that important especially within the church and how wrong it actually is. Yeah, I agree.
So much of the media and the press relies on gossip because uh if we wouldn’t if if there wasn’t gossip, you wouldn’t have juicy stories to tell to get people to click on stuff. Yeah. And so gossip really serves a great purpose. It can destroy people’s character. But you’ve got an interesting take on it which I think is is fantastic. So take it away. Yeah. Well, let’s get into it.
The definition of gossip is defined as revealing secrets, spreading rumors or unconfirmed information about someone and speaking negatively about others, often with a malicious intent to harm their reputation or so discord. Yep. So, that’s just what gossip is. Um, now I think we should just go into what the Bible says about gossip. And I have a couple verses I want to talk about. Number one is the ninth commandment.
Big one. Yeah. And that is you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. Y good. Don’t gossip about your neighbor or falsely accuse them of something that they haven’t done. Then we go into Proverbs. Proverbs 6-19. There are six things the Lord hates. Seven that are detestable to him. hotty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies, and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
