Waking Up Your Soul in a Distracted World

  • Hey friend, thanks so much for joining me on the Life and Leadership Podcast. Now, we’re building an empowering community here and I love that you’re sharing your time with us and choosing to be a part of it. Now, I’m pumped up for today’s episode because we finally got to have my dear dear friend and classmate and colleague Anne Voscamp to join us. Anne is the wife of a farmer.
  • She’s a mother to seven, a doctoral student, and of course, a New York time bestselling author. As you can see, this woman is not very busy at all. I cannot wait for you to hear from my dear friend an today. I think you’re going to be surprised. This conversation is so rich. >> Okay, so my favorite not just Canadian but person almost in the world, you and I.
  • Who would have guessed? We’ve been to grad school together. We have prayed together. We have wept together. We have done a lot of things together. Anoscamp. We have we have walked hundreds of thousands of steps together around and around and around that track at Weaton for years, Chris. >> Yep. And while we did that and I mean I if I think back a chick from Sydney, Australia, Greek Australian fireball and this contemplative farm girl from Canada.
  • You could not get more opposite sides of the globe. It’s very true. But as you and I you and I talked about it when we were at Weaton, the Lord comes and finds people on the back side of the wilderness >> and he calls them and we step into what the Lord has called us to. He does the anointing and the calling and he like he writes the most unexpected stories.
  • He writes it. I mean he is the word who writes unexpected stories and is the author of our stories. So yes, we are the most unlikely pair. But I think we both Oh, Chris, we share the same heart that’s after Christ. >> Well, that’s what I was gonna say. We say unlikely if you put us down on paper and people would have said, “Oh, no, never.
  • ” And then we get together and go, “Oh, same heart, same spirit, same passion.” That’s what I mean. It’s like you it I don’t even know. I was about to say, how could no one believe in God? The same Holy Spirit like would join two people from the other side, opposite ends of the earth, literally both parts of the Commonwealth.
  • I will say that um I want everyone to know the the Canadian accent is not how um we’ll be speaking at the marriage supper of the lamb. It’s the Australian accent. But anyway, we’re both part of the Commonwealth. But I say all that to go uh we we were just like almost instantly because of our passion for Jesus.
  • Like I mean we just were inseparable. Like truly like I just think like >> interesting actually. I don’t know what I was looking for this past week. Um but I I ran across those pictures. remember you and I went to um Greece and Sophia Bulgaria together. I think that’s in 2018, Chris. Um really leaning into the incredible work that A21 is doing all around the globe.
  • And actually, I was listening to um some of those audio recordings from our time with Phil and we went through the red light district and I just remember, oh, Chris, my heart just breaking for what breaks God’s heart and for women being >> trafficked and and why are we are all ERS who are in the palace called to use what the Lord has given us for such a time as now for those outside the gate.
