Pastor Kent Christmas | The Speed of God
-
You’re watching [music] KCMI TV. >> Well, thank you for joining me and merry Christmas. Um, I want to talk to you about something that it takes time to figure out, but I can tell you this about God. He’s not predictable. And just when you think you have the Lord figured out, um, he’ll change on you.
-
And, um, that’s why the Lord said, “My ways are not your ways.” And so, I want to I want to talk about, um, probably I guess a good word would be the speed of God. And one of the things about the Lord is it seems like um you can pray and pray and pray and forever and God doesn’t come through and then when you’re least expecting it, God will just show up.
-
And so um [clears throat] God will there’s a verse uh it’s in Luke uh 18 7 and 8 and it says and will not God avenge his own elect and though he territh long when he comes and so um the first part of this verse says and will not God avenge his own elects who cry unto him day and night. This is the first thing I know about long-term success in God.
-
You cannot stop asking God to do something. You know, I’ve heard people say, “Well, you just pray about one time and then you don’t pray about anymore. If you keep praying about it, it’s unbelief.” I don’t think that’s true. I I think uh in the book of Daniel, it says the angel uh told Daniel, he said, “Your prayers were heard from the very first day, but he said there was war in heaven and I was opposed by the prince of Persia.
-
” And he said, “I had to have help.” And so Daniel prayed 21 days. Uh I think there’s something about uh what we used to call when I was a kid, praying through. And so the scripture here, Luke, he says, uh, God’s people are crying unto him day and night, they wouldn’t let up. And it said, “Though he territh long,” um, every every generation, I preached about this recently, uh, every generation from Paul’s time to now has believed that God was coming in in their lifetime.
-
And I think God does that, puts that in all of us because he wants them to live in preparation that they’re ready when the Lord comes. But we definitely are the sign and the Bible says until the ends of the the world have come upon the ends of the earth. And we’re seeing fulfillment of prophecy. But with the Lord um he will it it will seem like God forever just procrastinates and then all of a sudden he will just show up.
-
And so um it’s not that soon as you pray God quickly shows up. And it’s just like serving the Lord and believing about the second coming of the Lord. We we we know that God could come at any time. But God will wait forever and then all of a sudden he will show up. And so when the scripture says that when he comes he will come speedily.
