Today we are in Mark 3:10. Mark chapter 3 verse 10 and I’ll read it now and I’ll read it several times of course. For Jesus healed many so that as many as had afflictions pressed about him to touch him. Mark 3:10. For Jesus healed many, so that as many as had suffered or had gone through or endured uh inflictions pressed about him to touch him.
And we’ll wait for a moment for the to the for the room to fill up. But good morning to all of you today on this Thursday, December 4th. And uh blessed to be with you guys. Hope you had a a great night. Hope you had a great night. I don’t know if you had Wednesday night services, but we had a wonderful time of communion and worship last night and it was good.
God was good to us. And so Mark 3:10, beautiful simple little verse, but imagine back then. Imagine going back in time, the magnitude of need that Jesus’s life drew from people to come seeking relief, seeking comfort, seeking love, seeking hope in him. One more time before we uh kind of expound on this and then pray. Mark 3:10, for Jesus healed many, so that as many as had afflictions pressed about him to touch him.
The fact that Jesus Christ did miracles, does miracles is of course not only a fact that he is beyond outside of our domain as you and I know as normal. Meaning to us such things are miracles. I get it. Of course they are. for God to do these things. It is nothing for him at all. It doesn’t take God having to work himself up to do something like this.
Uh a miracle is simply when God intervenes in the normal natural function of what his physical creation is all about. He’s the physical creator and that means he can move the parts. He can he can change things around without any effort whatsoever at all. So it’s not so much that it’s the miracle because it’s nothing to God.
But the verse goes on to say that many who had afflictions, to me that gets a little deeper because a miracle. Okay. Afflictions. This is now telling me of great need. I am in great great suffering. I’m in great pain to have such afflictions. And what kind of afflictions, you might ask? any kind of affliction, any affliction at all, body, soul, and spirit affliction.
But notice that those who had afflictions pressed about him, um, imagine Jesus in a crowd and they’re just basically trying to get as close to him as possible in their desperation so that they might touch him. Why? Because they needed healing. Friends, getting close to Jesus always heals. Now, I don’t mean sometimes.
