Right Before God Brings You Wealth, These Things Must Happen

Are you tired of financial struggle, frustration, and feeling like time is passing you by while you wait for a breakthrough? Many people wrestle with extremes concerning money: some mistakenly believe discussing finances or desiring wealth is sinful, while others make money the central focus of their Christian faith. The Bible, however, calls for a biblical balance, founded on the truth that God is with you regardless of your circumstance and is capable of anything.

Achieving true financial fruitfulness is not about luck; it relies on mastering three essential Kingdom principles: Generosity, Stewardship, and Faithfulness. When these keys are applied consistently, you can move from a state of frustration and worry, where you feel like a failure, to a place of financial stability and the ability to help others.

Defining Biblical Prosperity: Needs Met and Surplus for Others

Poverty is not a virtue, and wealth is not a vice. The culture of heaven is rich in abundance and wealth. The danger lies not in possessing riches, but in the love of money, which is the root of all kinds of evil, leading to temptation, ruin, and destruction.

Biblical prosperity is succinctly defined as having your needs met, with plenty left over to share with others.

  • Trust God, Not Riches: Those who are wealthy in this world must be taught not to be proud and not to trust in unreliable money; instead, their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.
  • The Purpose of Wealth: Resources should be used to do good, making believers rich in good works and generous to those in need. This motivates believers to help others, rather than consuming wealth on selfish desires.
  • Divine Blessing: The blessing of the Lord is what makes a person rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.

Key 1: Generosity (Sowing the Seed of Increase)

Generosity is the primary act of financial faith and the first key to financial fruitfulness.

The Law of Sowing and Reaping

The Bible teaches that a farmer who plants generously will get a generous crop. This works because giving is a spiritual principle and a form of stewardship.

  • Supernatural Funding: Generosity is supernatural; the enemy attacks the message of giving because he understands that giving funds the Kingdom.
  • Character Development: Giving changes your character and causes you to become someone who can be entrusted with more. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will be also.
  • Faith Acts First: The common mistake is saying, “Father, bless me, and I’ll start to give.” God’s way is: “Start to give, and I’ll bless you.” Faith acts before it sees; if you want God to bless your finances, you have to let your finances bless Him.
  • Giving in Need: Even when struggling, you must give. The widow with only two mites was praised by Jesus because she gave out of her need, demonstrating great generosity.
  • Generosity Must Be Cheerful: Do not give reluctantly or in response to pressure; God loves a person who gives cheerfully and as the Lord leads them.

Key 2: Stewardship (Plugging the Leaks)

Stewardship is being responsible with what you have, recognizing that it belongs to God. This practical discipline is the crucial component that often gets neglected while believers focus only on generosity.

Responsibility Brings Increase

The parable of the talents illustrates that God increases the resources of those who are faithful in handling the small amount they are first given.

  • The Danger of Poor Stewardship: Overemphasizing generosity while failing to address stewardship is like being in a lifeboat while drilling holes in the boat. Irresponsible spending habits negate the blessing that comes from giving.
  • Avoiding the Blame Game: Many blame the devil for financial attacks. However, the real problem is often irresponsibility, such as constantly eating out, buying unnecessary tech, or using credit cards excessively.
  • Discipline and Order: You must subject the cravings of the flesh, say no to unnecessary spending, and avoid money that has a high interest rate. God is a God of order, and glory rests on order, which attracts abundance.
  • Practical Financial Management: Get your finances in order. This means knowing your monthly expenses and income, and facing the truth of your financial situation, even if you are afraid of what you will find.
  • Hard Work is Stewardship: Part of good stewardship is working hard. This includes manual labor and applying your mind, focusing on the work, and doing everything as unto the Lord.

Key 3: Faithfulness (Maintaining Momentum)

Faithfulness is the commitment to consistency in both generosity and good stewardship over a long period of time.

  • Do Not Give Up: You must not get tired of doing what is good; at just the right time, you will reap a harvest of blessing if you don’t give up.
  • The Train Principle: Financial turnaround is often a process of gaining momentum, like a train gaining speed. If you start, stop, change directions, and start again (e.g., managing money well for two weeks, then reverting to old habits), you will never gain momentum.
  • Commitment Over Short-Term Trials: Do not try generosity and stewardship for only a month or two before quitting. Long-term commitment is what God blesses.

By combining these three components—Generosity bringing increase, Stewardship plugging the leaks, and Faithfulness sustaining the effort—you will begin to see a powerful turnaround in your finances.

A Call to Action and Expectation

The sources encourage believers to repent for being poor stewards and for withholding generosity. Now is the time to subject the cravings of the flesh and walk in discipline.

Pray and expect God to bring financial miracles, job promotions, and the breaking of debt. You can put generosity into practice by considering a monthly or single gift to ministries that feed you spiritually, ensuring you sow where you grow. Remember, your blessing is within reach, but you must be prepared to pass the tests that God puts before you before the fulfillment of the dream.
