Wow. Friday, November 28th and um we are going to pray together. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Second Kings 2 Kings 19 14 and 15. The second book of Kings chapter 19 verses 14 and 15. And we are going to make this our prayer structure for today. It’s pretty pretty sweet. I’ll read it a little bit of background and we’ll pray it because we will apply it to our lives this morning.
So 2 Kings chapter 19 verse14 begins by saying, “And Hezekiah,” that’s the king, King Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it. And Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord and spread before the Lord. Then Hezekiah prayed before the Lord and said, “Oh Lord God of Israel, the one who dwells between the cherubam, you are God, you alone of all the kingdoms of the earth.
You have made heaven and earth.” This is powerful, powerful prayer. Listen up, everyone. When it says here, “And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it.” That is the letter of threat, the letter of doom. It is the letter that King Sekcharb of the Assyrian Empire had written to King Hezekiah saying, “Surrender or we’re just going to literally annihilate you.
we are going to annihilate Israel. We are going to completely destroy them. Um so just give up. Become our slaves. And um so the verse goes on and Hezekiah does exactly what we’re supposed to do. This is the beautiful takeaway. It says that when he got that letter and he read it. Okay, look. First, he read it. So, how many things do you and I read and what do we do with it? This is the biggest problem of today’s world in which we live in for the Christian is we don’t handle things right.
We don’t handle things right. So, we not only get ourselves into worse trouble, we start to trouble others. And God says he hates that. So Hezekiah, he receives the letter from the hand of the messengers, that is the FedEx guys, the the Amazon UPS guys of Sakarb. And here it is. He read it.
